CRUISE SHORE EXCURSIONS
SETE CIDADES
(3,5 to 4 hours)
- Pick up at the passengers terminal of the port of Ponta Delgada;
- Pico do Carvão viewpoint with panoramic views over the island on its lenght, with stoppage (5 min.);
- Lagoa do Canário and Miradouro da Boca do Inferno with stoppage (20 min.);
- "Vista do Rei" viewpoint with stop (10 min.);
- Caminho da Cumeeira (Cumeeiras), nice off-road ride on the "rim of the volcano"
- Pico da Cruz with stop (5 min.). Panoramic views of the crater and of several lakes of Sete Cidades;
- Cumeeiras Viewpoint opposite to the Vista do Rei with stop (5 min.);
- Center of the Parish of Sete Cidades for 15/30 minutes for rest, walk, coffee, toilets and optional visit to the neo-Gothic style Church of São Nicolau;
- Sete Cidades bridge and explanation of its history and relevance to the parish with stop (10 min);
- Path surrounding the Blue Lake on dirt and peninsula including stop (10 min) to explain the water flow Tunnel, its relevance and history;
- Cerrado das Freiras Viewpoint with stop (5 min);
- Lomba do Vasco Viewpoint with stop (5 min);
- Ponta do Escalvado Viewpoint with stop (5 min);
- Rocha da Relva Viewpoint with stop (5 min);
- End and return with drop-off at the same pick-up location.
FIRE LAKE, PINEAPPLE & TEA
(3,5 to 4 hours)
- Pick up at the passengers terminal of the port of Ponta Delgada;
- Pico da Barrosa with 947 mtrs height and Lagoa do Fogo, nominated as one the 7 wonders of Portugal (Firelake) by the south, descending after by the North of the island with great views above the city of Ribeira Grande;
- Pico Vermelho (Passing by the steam powerplants);
- Caminho da Tondela on a dirt road passing through the Ribeira Grande streams;
- Ribeira Grande Hot Springs for 15/30 minutes for rest, coffee, toilets and optional visit to the spa and baths to be arranged. Does not include the entry tickets;
- Fábrica do Chá Gorreana with a stop of between 15 and 30 minutes for a visit, guided explanation and tea tasting (the biggest tea plantation for industrial use in Europe);
- We commence the return passing through the peaceful Maple tree zone of Coroa da Mata with great sightseen views of Santa Iria;
- Ribeira Grande with optional stop (10 min.) to observe the local Garden, Churches, architecture of century-old buildings and/ or the volcanic black sand beach of Santa Barbara, the Capital of Surfing of Ribeira Grande;
- Pineapple plantation/greenhouses (Fajã de Baixo or Laranjeiras), with guided tour and tasting (30 min.);
- End and return with drop-off at the same pick-up location.
FURNAS
(4 to 5 hours)
- Pick up at the passengers terminal of the port of Ponta Delgada;
- Caminho da Tondela on dirt road passing through the Ribeira Grande streams;
- Caldeiras da Ribeira Grande for a 15/30 minutes rest, coffee, toilets;
- Fábrica do Chá Gorreana with a stop of between 15 and 30 minutes for a visit and tea tasting;
- Pico do Ferro Viewpoint with stop (15 min.);
- Fumaroles and sparkling water springs;
- Lagoa das Furnas;
- Lookout of Nossa Senhora da Paz in Vila Franca do Campo with stop (15 min);
- End and return with drop-off at the same pick-up location.
FIRE LAKE (Lagoa do Fogo)
(3 hours)
- Pick-up at your hotel or place of the guest accommodation on the island of São Miguel;
- Pico da Barrosa with 947 mtrs height and Lagoa do Fogo, nominated as one the 7 wonders of Portugal (Firelake) by the south, descending after by the North of the island with great views above the city of Ribeira Grande;
- Salto do Cabrito Waterfall;
- Volcanic black sand beach of Santa Barbara, the Capital of Surfing of Ribeira Grande;
- End and return with drop-off at the same pick-up location.
